Reasons to Eat More Fruits and Vegetables

Eating vegetables provides health benefits. People who eat more vegetables and fruits as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases, such as heart disease, including heart attack and stroke and certain types of cancers. Eating foods such as vegetables that are lower in calories instead of higher-calorie food may be useful in helping to lower calorie intake. Vegetables provide nutrients vital for health and maintenance of your body, such as vitamins A and C, fiber, folate, and potassium. let's watch on reasons to eat more vegetables.

.Fruits and vegetables have lots of vitamins and minerals. They are the best foods for vitamins like A, C, and E, and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, phosphorous, and folic acid. Foods like avocados, sweet potatoes, bananas, prunes, and tomato paste puree are rich in potassium, which is very important for your health.

.Plant-based foods come in many flavors and textures. They allow you to be creative in cooking. You can try strong flavors like onions, olives, and peppers, or milder options like mushrooms and corn. Fruits such as pineapple, grapes, and plums offer sweet flavors, while lemons and grapefruits are sour.

.They have lots of fiber. Most fruits and vegetables have fiber that fills you up and keeps your gut healthy. Fiber-rich vegetables include artichokes, green peas, broccoli, and cauliflower. High-fiber fruits include raspberries, pears, apples, and pumpkin.

.They are low in calories and fat. Fruits and vegetables are usually low in calories and fat, so you can eat more without worrying about gaining weight. For example, half a cup of grapes has 200 fewer calories than a quarter cup of M&Ms. But avocados, olives, and coconuts are exceptions.

.They help prevent diseases like cancer. Many vegetables and fruits have phytochemicals that protect against diseases. Eating them can reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure, and cancer. Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, collards, and watercress are particularly good for lowering cancer risks.

.Fruits and vegetables help you stay healthy. They are low in saturated fat, salt, and sugar, making them part of a balanced diet that can help you lose weight or prevent gaining weight. They also reduce inflammation and lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

.They are low in sodium and cholesterol. Fresh fruits and veggies have very little sodium and no cholesterol at all. For example, one celery stalk only has 30mg of sodium, which is 1% of what you should have daily.

.Fresh, frozen, canned, dried  all are nutritious. Whether you choose fresh, frozen, canned, or dried fruits and vegetables, they are all nutritious. Frozen and canned products are processed soon after being harvested, so they keep their nutritional value.

.They are convenient and easy. Many fruits and vegetables don’t need any packaging. You can easily grab a banana or apple when you’re in a hurry.

.Smoothies are a great way to enjoy fruits and veggies. You can make delicious smoothies with just fruit and ice in a blender. You can even add fresh spinach without changing the taste much, especially for kids who might not like spinach.
